12/11/2019

The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a national training under the GOOD WOOD project on "The circular bioeconomy in European social dialogue". The partners of the Podkrepa Labor Confederation project also took an active part in the event.

The project aims to strengthen social dialogue and achieve reorganization of production and management in the logging and wood processing sectors. The project started in early 2019 and the partnership covers business organizations, unions and universities from Italy, Portugal, Belgium and Bulgaria.

The thematic focus of the national seminar was the circular bioeconomy and its impact on social dialogue. Representatives of BCCI and Podkrepa presented the project - its goals, planned actions and expected results and made a brief presentation of what has been done so far in the project implementation.

Emphasis was placed on social dialogue and its new dimensions in terms of the circular bioeconomy, on the one hand, and on the main aspects of the circular bioeconomy in the timber and wood processing sector and on sustainable and consistent models of waste-free production and consumption, on the other. The aim of the national training was to discuss the applicability of the circular bioeconomy in the wood processing sector, to clarify its pros and cons; as well as outlining factors and prerequisites for the development of the circular bioeconomy and its impact on employers, employees and trade unions. A number of good practices in the EU were shared.

An international meeting and training on the project is scheduled in Sofia. BCCI will continue to inform on the topic. https://www.bcci.bg/news/16677
