Good Wood, the first national seminar in Porto

On 19 July 2019, AIMMP held the first national seminar (as part of the Good Wood Project) on the theme "The importance of acquiring knowledge by other means to improve competitiveness and market trends". The event was attended by over 40 participants representing:
- wood sector companies;
- furniture design companies;
- employer organizations;
- workers' organizations;
- vocational training centers;
- and other representatives.
The official presentation of the seminar was made by Dr. Victor Poças, president of AIMMP, underlining the strengthening that the role of social dialogue should play in promoting the competitiveness of companies, as well as the importance of adapting production to consumer trends. Then, Prof. Dr. António Cruz Rodrigues talked about consumer trends and the importance of developing an industry capable of responding effectively to new challenges.
Dr. Pedro Trindade then presented the Good Wood project, highlighting the good practices that should be followed and which are currently being discussed by the partners involved in the project. The role of social dialogue as a means of improving human resource development in the wood industry was also mentioned.
In the afternoon, Prof. Cruz Rodrigues and Arq held a seminar on the Market Observatory and Consumer Trends. João Coutinho, highlighted the main trends at the European level, considering a greener economy and how to respond to the needs of a circular economy. All participants were given the information leaflet of the Good Wood project and some materials on social dialogue and training actions.
